For those of you that have not yet heard the simplistic, lovely brilliance that is the music of Cass McCombs, let me introduce you to a song that I have been listening to almost every day as of late (and sometimes several times a day.)
You're welcome.

Dust Belles
William Eggleston has always been my favorite photographer. I have a vivid memory of looking through a book of his photographs at the Monterey Library as a child, and even then they evoked such beauty and emotion.
Sadly, I missed his collection that was recently displayed at LACMA (still hitting myself over the head about that one).
I haven't spent much time in the Southern region of the United States, so I can't say that I truly understand the Southern spirit (unless you count having a true understanding/appreciation for Southern cooking). Eggleston's photos, to me, capture what I imagine to be the spirit of the South in the 60's-70's. His use of color is magical, and his portraits + landscapes tell beautiful, deeply rooted stories that I find fascinating.
Here are some of my favorite photos (although it's difficult to choose).

Back To The Future
There is something both joyously beautiful and hauntingly creepy about photographer Irina Werning's fascinating ongoing photo project, "Back To The Future," in which her subjects are seen re-creating childhood portraits.
I can't stop looking at these. I am obsessed.
The most incredible part of these photographical re-creations is that the emotions/thoughts/actions/intent displayed by the subjects are seemingly the same in both the old + the new pictures.
It kind of makes me question how we evolve as people and how we constantly try to 'escape' from our past selves in order to become 'better,' more 'intelligent' and 'evolved' beings. But, can we really 'escape' our past? Or maybe deep inside of us, we stay true to original character, no matter how hard we try to change. Maybe we have to start believing that we can't truly escape ourselves, and that we will always be as good and as innocent as we were when we were young.
Svpplying My Desires
I have a problem.
My problem is that I recently discovered Svpply and it is ruining my life.
Svpply is a website that allows you to discover + save new, amazing products such as clothing, furniture, books, accessories and art. Users can share + curate their own wishlists, which are visible to other users.
It's both amazing and awful at the same time.
P.S. It's only awful because I now have yet another outlet to stare longingly at beautiful things I wish I had.
Here are a few items from my svpply

welcome
Hello everyone, and welcome to my blog!
My bathroom is currently being remodeled, and while I would usually spend my mornings underneath the covers of my bed, waiting until the very last second to get ready for work, I am now awoken at the crack of dawn by the sounds of hammering, drilling, and the occasional cursing of the construction guys.
I have been meaning to start this blog for awhile now, but have obviously been procrastinating.
Now that I have absolutely no excuse, I will fill this blog as often as possible with things I love, things I long for, old photographs, design, fashion, art, film, music and food. Lots and lots of food!
I hope you like it. I know I will.
